'Press Play On Tape'

When it was completed 'Press Play On Tape' featured 50 hand painted canvases over 3 floors, as well as using over 70 cans of Montana Black aerosol and about 1.5 litres of Grog ink. As the building was in use for most of the installation time I had to paint the canvases off site and then install the 3 floors over 3 separate weekends.

Laying out the paintings and canvases to make sure the dimensions fitted into the stairwell shape (thats the spirit level marking the slope of the ceiling).
Starting to draw the design and lay out basic colours with aerosol
Aerosol is the quickest and most effective ways to get a nice flat colour for the painting and the frame.
Of course a sunny day always helps!
Some of the larger canvases are hand painted, I like to live traces of brush marks!
